Why Do I Feel It More In My Shoulders When I Bench Press? [Solved]
Usually, this means you’re slouching when you bench and your shoulders are doing all the work. So, keep your chest up high and your shoulders back! Make sure only your glutes and shoulder blades are touching the bench. There should be a gap of about an inch or two between your spine and the bench.
Set Up: Make sure your feet are firmly planted on the ground and your back is flat against the bench. Position your hands slightly wider than shoulder-width apart on the barbell.
Lift: Take a deep breath and lift the barbell off of the rack, keeping it close to your body as you do so.
Lower: Slowly lower the barbell down to just above your chest, keeping it close to your body and maintaining control throughout the movement.
Push: Drive through with your legs and press up with your arms until you have fully extended them, locking out at the top of the movement for a full range of motion.
Repeat: Return to step 3 and repeat for desired number of repetitions or until failure is reached
I’m really feeling it in my shoulders when I do bench presses! It’s like they’re on fire - ouch! But, I know it’s worth it in the end. Plus, I’m sure my shoulders will thank me later.
